Also known as the Yuru Gompa, Lamayuru is also an important monastery situated in Kargil district in Western Ladakh. It is one of the eldest and largest monasteries in
Ladakh with capacity to provide permanent residence over 450 monks. More than 150 monks are living inside this monastery.
